A new online casino is coming to New Jersey. Online lottery courier service Jackpocket has announced it has secured market access in the Garden State through a skin agreement with Caesars Entertainment.

Per the , “With lottery operations in ten states, including New Jersey, New York, and Texas, Jackpocket will be the first third-party lottery service to enter the online casino space in the Garden State.”

The Jackpocket Casino Difference

The launch of a new online casino in New Jersey is hardly breaking news, but this one carries a little more weight as Jackpocket’s existing customer base could be one of the few untapped population segments. Unlike other entrants, Jackpocket casino is less reliant on peeling off customers from its competitors or marketing to customers that have been living under a rock for the past eight years and somehow missed the fact that legal online casino games are available in New Jersey.

“Jackpocket’s mission is to expand into new gaming verticals, and we are confident that lottery fans will be interested in new ways to play, including slots, bingo, and table games,” said Jackpocket CEO Peter Sullivan. “Our user research has shown a high correlation between Jackpocket lottery players and those who enjoy casino-style gaming. We look forward to bringing the innovative tech, intuitive design, and seamless experience that the Jackpocket app is known for into this new arena.”

As such, Jackpocket can focus on cross-selling online casino to its lottery customers – a group that is likely aware of the existence of online casino games but, for a variety of reasons, hasn’t taken them for a test drive.

Instead of square one, Jackpocket starts these potential customers a few steps into the process. The customer has already downloaded the Jackpocket app, registered an account, deposited money, and is comfortable wagering with the company.

This customer is quite unique. The industry understands cross-sell between poker-casino-sports betting, but lottery to casino is a new frontier, and how Jackpocket fares as an online casino operator will be interesting to watch. It will also be interesting to see if the company can incorporate some of its lottery app services like ticket pooling into the online casino sector.

The Jackpocket Lottery App

Jackpocket has taken a different approach than other online lottery courier services. It works with state regulators and only sells lottery tickets with the approval of the state lottery and regulators.

As Jackpocket CEO Peter Sullivan in October:

“First and foremost, we’ve sought to be a compliant, productive partner everywhere we operate… That approach has served us well. Whether it’s being the only business of our kind that has earned the privilege to be an associate member of NASPL (North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries) or receiving the iCAP certification from the National Council on Problem Gambling, we view strict compliance and adherence to regulations as a source of strength, not a burden.”

The Jackpocket mobile app is available in the following locales:

  • Arkansas
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Minnesota
  • New Hampshire
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Ohio
  • Oregon
  • Texas
